14th Security Forces Change of Command

The 14th Security Forces Squadron Change of Command ceremony was held on 13 June 2025, at the Columbus Air Force Base, Miss., Event Center. Out-going commander Maj. Kyle A. Buss relinquished command to Maj. Andrew D. Metz.



Major Andrew D. Metz served as the Provost Marshal for Joint Task Force Bravo at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras.  In this position, he was responsible for maintaining order and discipline within the military community and oversees force protection operations in a joint, multinational environment spanning seven countries.  He is an active member of Civil Air Patrol, participating in search and rescue operations and cadet programs.

Major Metz grew up in Syracuse, New York and was commissioned as a graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the State University of New York at Oswego in 2014.  He entered active duty as a 2d Lieutenant in May 2015 and has served in a variety of assignments at bases in Air Force Global Strike Command and Air Force Materiel Command. His contingency operations experiences include COMBINED JOINT TASK FORCE and OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE.

The mission of the 14th Security Forces Squadron serves as the primary security, antiterrorism, and Force Protection authority responsible for the safety for over 10,000 active duty, families, civilian and contractor personnel at Columbus Air Force Base. They provide wing resource protection of over $340 million dollars in assets, enabling CAFB to execute pilot training and support operations daily. The 14th Security Forces Squadron consists of a command support staff, intelligence flight, operations & training flight, resources flight and administration and reports flight.
