The 377th Security Forces Group hosted an Honorary Commander Immersion on Feb. 18 at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., bringing together local civic leaders and military personnel to strengthen community ties. Col. Matthew Foisy, 377th Security Forces Group commander, welcomed his Honorary Commander, Sheriff John D. Allen, the top law enforcement official for Bernalillo County, and members of Allen’s leadership team.

The event provided guests with a firsthand look at the mission and daily operations of the 377 SFG, emphasizing the vital role security forces play in base defense and national security.

During the immersion, guests engaged in discussions with leadership, observed operational demonstrations, and learned about the strategic impact of the 377 SFG’s work on Kirtland AFB. Through these interactions, both military personnel and community leaders exchanged insights on security protocols and best practices, reinforcing the importance of working together to address shared challenges.

Collaboration between Kirtland AFB and the local community ensures a seamless approach to security and emergency response on and off the installation. This partnership strengthens overall security efforts, enhancing both military readiness and public safety.

The Honorary Commander program plays a crucial role in building lasting partnerships between Kirtland AFB and the surrounding community. Events like these not only educate civic leaders about the Air Force mission but also promote collaboration that enhances both military and civilian efforts. Strengthening these relationships ensures continued support for the base while fostering mutual respect and understanding between military personnel and local agencies.
