The Airmen used paintball to complete tactical training that included close-quarter combat, shoot-move-communicate drills and individual movement techniques. The exercises were led by instructions from the 42nd SFS as part of the Air Force’s ongoing focus on developing multi-capable Airmen.
“This isn’t just paintball this is about teaching movement, communication, and trust under pressure,” said U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Christopher Collis, 42nd SFS installation patrolman. “We’re simulating real scenarios, so they know how to react when every second counts.”
Resiliency training, often seen as a mental reset, plays a vital role in supporting Airmen during periods of high stress or demanding work cycles such as the fiscal end of year.
“We know those long nights and weeks away from family are coming,” said Senior Airman Alec Green, 42nd CONS contracting specialist. “Taking time to prepare our minds now ensures we’re in the right headspace when the mission tempo increases.”
For members of 42nd CONS, this hands-on training is also about integrating with operational partners.
“Being able to reach out to other operational units like Security Forces and set up a combat training day helps build that relationship that we may otherwise not have,” said Green. “It strengthens mission ties and builds morale.”
According to Collis, that cross-squadron collaboration is key to mission continuity.
“Readiness isn’t just for Security Forces, it’s a whole wing effort, and today’s about making that real,” said Collis. “We’re empowering our support squadrons to step up when the time comes.”
For members of the 42nd CONS, the training was both educational and morale boosting. The day allowed Airmen to step outside their usual responsibilities, build team chemistry and gain new respect for the demands placed on defenders.
“It’s about more than trigger time; it’s about building confidence, capability, and connection across the base,” said Collis. “Everyone leaves here with a better understanding of what it takes to operate as a team under fire.”
As the Air Force continues to emphasize Total Force readiness and holistic wellness, the 42nd CONS is setting the tone: mission success begins with resilient, connected Airmen.
