Capt. Scott Bean accepted command of the 433rd Security Forces Squadron during an assumption of command ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Sept. 6.

Col. Jeremy Patrick, 433rd Mission Support Group commander, presided over the ceremony and presented the 433rd SFS guidon to Bean, symbolizing the transfer of authority.

Patrick highlighted the challenges and opportunities ahead for the new commander. “I want to take a minute to recognize the monumental job that he’s got ahead of him,” said Patrick. “The fact that as a new commander, he’s undoubtedly looking forward to it and may not know yet what he’s in for. He’s going to do amazing things.”

Bean expressed gratitude to his family, leadership, and addressed the Airmen of the squadron.

“To the men and women of the 433rd Security Forces Squadron it’s an honor to lead you and to serve alongside you,” Bean said. “I will do all I can to ensure you have the training and the resources you need to execute your mission. In return I ask that each of you do all you can to ensure that your own and subordinates’ readiness, competency and professionalism is at the upmost standard; we must always be ready to answer our nation’s call.

The 433rd SFS trains unit members to meet wartime mission requirements while providing support assistance to its active-duty counterparts. It deploys security forces personnel to provide Air Base defense, physical security, law enforcement and resource protection missions in any climate or location.
