MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. — 2nd Lt. Axel Huss is the Executive Officer for the 91st Security Forces Group. He was a military brat growing up, moving around from one location to the next, but spent most of his life in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. He became a member of Team Minot in July 2019.

“After coming here and being here for a while, you learn to love this place, despite cold weather and high ops tempo,” said Huss. “This is a great assignment, it’s great for development, and I really enjoy the mission here and what we do.”

His duties include handling communication across four different squadrons, the group staff, the group commander, the group chief, as well as execute tasker input to higher headquarters, Air Force Global Strike Command and the wing. “The global impact of what goes on here is my favorite part of the mission. This is one of the most high visibility bases, not just in the Air Force but the entire U.S. military. In the past year there’ve been so many distinguished visitors coming through here and there’s an exact reason for that, because of what we do here.” said Huss.

“My wife motivates me, we push each other to great limits, and also the job of being part of secfo, it’s one of the greatest career fields in the Air Force and I think being able to call myself a defender is a really great thing,” said Huss.

Huss spends his free time traveling with his wife, taking care of his dogs and running. He plans on maximizing his time in the Air Force by reaching 20 years time in service and becoming a commander.
