PRESS RELEASE: Virginia Beach, VA, May 11, 2021 – The USAF Police Alumni Foundation, an IRS recognized, 501c3 charitable organization is honored to announce four $1000 scholarships to assist with educational expenses of United States Air Force, Active Duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve Security Forces and their spouses and dependent children.

The scholarships will be awarded to candidates who wish to further their education by pursuing a college degree or technical training at a vocational/technical school. Only Security Forces members, spouses or eligible dependent children (a child who has not yet reached their 25th birthday) are eligible to apply.

The four (4) scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to selected candidates as follows: Security Forces Active duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, honorably discharged Veterans, retirees, (2), Spouse or Dependent Child (1 ea). All applicants must be at least 17 years of age or older. Scholarships when awarded must be used in the academic year immediately following the award. Funds may be paid directly to an academic institution or trade school or paid to the recipient to cover the cost of academic expenses such as lab fees, books, etc.

“This is an incredible opportunity, especially during this time of recovery from the COVID 19 pandemic, for individuals to receive a substantial gift to further their education” said John Shanks, USAF Police Alumni Foundation Chairman. “We exist to provide assistance to USAF Security Forces and their families, this is just one of the ways our foundation supports today’s Defenders” he continued.

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2021 Scholarships. Applications are due NLT June 15th, 2021 by 23:59 hrs to scholarships@usafpolice.org.
